To insert an image into your Wordpress Post or Page is pretty simple. You do not really need to edit the image in any way before uploading it. You will be able to adjust the image once it has been uploaded using Wordpress’ image adjustment tools.
Inserting an Image
We will create a left-aligned image that allows the text to flow around the image. Open up a Page or Post and place the blinking text cursor to the left of the line that you want to add the image to. We suggest having the image inserted before the first letter of a new paragraph. You may insert the image before the More Tag (as described in Adding a Post Or Page), but it then appear in search results and might make these results quite long.
With the blinking cursor insert to the left of the first letter in a new paragraph, click on the Add An Image button on the toolbar. This button is square and just to the right of the words ‘Upload/Insert’. These buttons allow for the insertion of all kinds of media. A window will pop up. It may display the Flash Uploader or the standard Browser Uploader. Make sure you have the latest Flash Player installed to see the Flash Uploader.
Assuming you are viewing the Flash Uploader, click on the Select Files button on the screen. Locate and select the file (you may select multiple files by using ctrl-left mouse button) from your PC and click on the Open button. This will upload the image and then present a list of image adjustment options. Click on the Show button to the right of an image if you do not see the options.
Title
Type in a Title for the image. It should be anything descriptive.
Caption
This optional parameter will add a caption to the bottom of the image once inserted into the page or post.
Description
The description can be a short explanation of the image, similar to the caption.
Alignment
Click on the Left radio button to make sure the image will sit to the left of the text and the text will wrap around the right side of the image.
Size
Choose Medium from the size selection area. This should insert the image into the post/page at a workable size.
Click on the Insert Into Post button and the window will close, inserting the image into the content area.
You may now click on the bottom-right corner of the image and scale the image with a dragging motion.
Adding whitespace around the image
Once you have the size that you like, click once on the image itself. You will see an Edit Image button and a Delete Image button appear on the image. Click on the Edit Image button and a new window will pop up.
Click on the Advanced Settings tab on top and then enter 0 into border, 5 into Vertical space and 5 into Horizontal space. A border will now not show if you add an optional link to the image. The 5 Vertical and Horizontal numbers will add 5 pixels’ worth of white space around the image.
Click on the Update button and your image insertion is complete.
