This will allow Google to show the ad above the competition’s. To get a good idea of how much you should increase it with, look at the average position of the ad for that keyword. If it is sitting at around position 3 then you do not need to change it since it is a pretty comfortable position when compared to the costing. If your ad is always at position 1 then you Cost Per Click might be too high and you can lower it and see which position it falls into.

You need to mention precisely what you offer as well as the benefit to the viewer i.e. “Enjoy beautiful, healthy skin with our morning spa treatment”. If you offer a service only in your surrounding area then mention the area in the ad i.e. “Drive safely with superior tyres from Auto Parts, Northcliff”. Rather be more straight forward and your conversion rate from a lead to sale will be much higher.

Good
The adwords ad was very focused and the visitor got the information that they needed on that page.

Bad
The ad was not direct enough and missed your target market. The visitor was looking for something close to what you mentioned, but might have misunderstood the ad.
The landing page for the ad might not have followed up with the ad message properly and the visitor lost interest.

By default Google will try and spread your ads out across the day. If your daily budget is almost used up by 10am then Google will not show your ad until later the day. If you have a very limited daily budget then the ad will not show much, but your daily budget will likely still be used up by the end of the day. To accurately test if your ad is showing you can log into your account and take a look at the impressions for that ad for the day.
